Born in 1837 in Brussels. Died in 1921 in Saint Gilles - Brussels.
XIX - XX Centuries. Belgian.
Painter of landscapes and seascapes.
He only received some advice from Hippolyte Boulanger. In this sense his first landscapes of countryside are very influenced by the School of Tervueren: the Realist Art in opposition to the Academic and classical Art. This Belgian artistic movement is an echo of the Barbizon School.
Very independent spirit, he did not follow the courses of any master or academy.
Arthur Bouvier studied with love nature in its most grandiose manifestations.
He participated in numerous exhibitions in Belgium and abroad, notably in Paris, Amsterdam and Chicago.
He was especially a remarkable interpreter of the sea.
Among his best paintings are: "Marine" Inv 2809 acquired in 1881; "Une eclaircie" Inv 2809 acquired in 1881 ( collection Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique ).
"Sunrise on the Scheldt"; "Dusk"; "Storm on the North Sea".
