Object description :

"Pierre-jacques Pelletier (1869-1931) "
SPECTACULAR 2nd pastel by Pierre-Jacques Pelletier representing a bank of the Seine or Oise, signed lower left. Dimensions without frame 55x100cm and approximately 95x145cm including frame !!! This is indeed a very important and spectacular pastel by Pelletier, like the 1st that I proposed in another advertisement, it also represents a bank of the Seine or Oise, as usual of exceptional quality, it transcribed the vegetation on the banks of the river remarkably, with great attention to detail, as well as the water and the sky, all thanks to a very controlled design and a palette of great richness of tones. Pierre Jacques is considered the painter of the Parisian suburbs, but he will also paint very often in the heart of the capital, quite often in pastel, but he will also easily master the oil technique. "Pelletier knew how to create a style for himself by assimilating both the lessons of the landscape painters of the Fontainebleau school and those of the Impressionists. Poet, he moves us by his melancholy landscapes throughout the four seasons, by the beauty of his skies But he surprises us when, in retrospect, he describes how Paris and our suburbs looked like Paris and our suburbs ... St-Ouen, Genevilliers, Epinay, Argenteuil, Issy-les-Moulineaux ... - a century ago ... ... To look at Pierre-Jacques Pelletier is to enter the bubbling world of art at the turn of the century, it is to rub shoulders with the greatest while remaining unique in its palette, in its design, in his colors, in the expression of the art that he offers to his amateur. He knows how to constrain the borrowings of reality from his own sensation, from his interior universe. He knows how to make a landscape express the sadness of winter by giving its colors the muffled and silent atmosphere of snow. gives shivers ... All his work is expressed in the rendering of the atmospheres that the whole of nature reveals over the seasons, dawn and dawn, earth and sky ... "These sentences are taken from a very nice book on the painter, by Alain Mathieu, Sylviane Seraudie at Bilingual editions. This pastel is therefore in very good condition, it finally includes its period frame, spectacular in all respects, by the richness of its sculpture and its impressive size. The frame is in good condition, despite a few gaps but quite light, plus I keep the few bits that have come loose. Guaranteed authentic. I did not touch this pastel at all, it will have to be dismantled in order to clean both the glass and the dirt that has entered between the glass and the pastel and finally to have the frame cleaned and slightly restored, and when all this has been done , it will have returned in almost exceptional condition. My wish is therefore to sell it in the state, moreover it will be, you imagine it, impossible to ship it. For all these reasons, I charged an unbeatable price, a real market price, it should be worth between 1600 and 2500 € in view of sales and prices in the gallery. However, I could possibly deliver it to Paris in the coming months, also to Saintes, Angoulême, La Rochelle, Rochefort, or to Le Mans during the merchant unpacking. And finally to take on the spot in Limoges or on the island of Oléron of course.
