""la Moglie Del Soldato", Ceramic Sculpture, Italian Manufacture "lenci", Turin"
The sculpture in question, from 1936, is a ceramic produced by Helen König Scavini for the Lenci factory, model 580. The sculpture of the piece of furniture is cited in bibliographical sources with the title "The soldier's wife" and represents a seated woman, with very simple and rather rustic clothes holding a girl in her arms and a hen in her lap. Through this production, Helen Scavin tackles a recurring theme in Lenci's ceramics "centered on motherhood and the family, described through a moment of simple and calm intimacy, made of silences and small daily gestures" as stated. art historian Stefania Cretella. The figurine in question is characterized by a great luster and a shine given by the vitreous coating. This piece faithfully reflects the design of the Lenci manufacture archives. Under the base, an inscription with a brush in black under the window "Lenci / TORINO ITALY" and the graphic symbol of the decorator (wing). Always below the base incorporated into the "580" dough. On the back, engraved in paste: "Elena Scavini". Possibility to have on request the technical sheet edited by Dr. Stefania Cretella.
