French School, Louis XIV Period, Allegorical Painting `` Child Parrot And Dog '' flag

Object description :

"French School, Louis XIV Period, Allegorical Painting `` Child Parrot And Dog '' "
Very beautiful allegorical painting, from the end of the 17th century, representing a child from the aristocracy, standing outside, certainly in front of the family Castle, in the middle of woods and hills, dressed in a stole of pink satins and wide draped around the waist in royal blue. This child raising a finger, attracting the attention of the audience and already revealing his knowledge, holds in the other hand a parrot, which symbolizes the propitiatory example of the virtues of education and the success of learning. Just like his exotic animal, the child can learn and repeat what is taught to him.
At the child's feet, under his indifference, his dog barks. There is a time for everything. When learning, you should not be distracted. This dog, man's best friend, personifies loyalty, obedience, joy, and vitality. The scene is accentuated by a very nice cloudy sky as the day rises. There is a future, there is hope.

Anonymous work from the Louis XIV period, in the style of Pierre MIGNARD, and before him Flemish painters.
