Beautiful orientalist watercolor "Twilight on the Nile" by the famous painter Théodore Frère 1814-1888 Pupil of Roqueplan and Léon Coignet. At the age of 20, he participated in the Salon des toiles Exotique. He left Paris at the age of 23 and lived for two years in Algiers and Constantine In 1851 he traveled through Malta, Greece, and Asia Minor then Istanbul. One of the largest and most brilliant and one of the first romantic orientalist inspired by Delacroix's 1834 painting The Women of Algiers. Very well composed watercolor signed lower left romantic twilight at the edge of a river very representative of the work of Théodore Frère. Presented in its contemporary setting.
