ANTHROPOMORPHIC MASK Bamileke Bekom culture, Grassland region, Cameroon First half of the 20th century Wood with crusty patina H .: 32; L .: 24; Thickness: 17 cm Wooden facial mask with characteristic features of the Bamiléké culture: nose with wide nostrils, almond-shaped eyes with globular pupils, C-shaped ears, marked cheekbones, raised eyebrow arches, short forehead and shell headdress. The half-open mouth is carved with small teeth, the openings of the ears are also pierced. Provenance: Former Renaud Vanuxem collection.
