"Quilted Quilt In Taffeta And Chintz - Provence First Half Of The Nineteenth Century"
First half of the 19th century Provence Beautiful Provençal quilted quilt known as a window, with gilded taffeta, bronze and chocolate inserts circa 1830/1850. Clever quilting at the front stitch, with sequenced decoration of rosettes, tulips and baskets in the corners. The reverse side is contrasted with an emerald green glazed cotton chintz and a grisaille cotton twill. Interesting shades of color and materials on both sides. A few very discreet small spots of discoloration, otherwise clean, stable and solid fabrics. Lightweight, thin quilt with neat stitching, testimony to a higher social origin. Very good condition of colors and conservation.
