Large Faience Hanap Late 17th Count Coat Of Arms flag

Object description :

"Large Faience Hanap Late 17th Count Coat Of Arms"
Superb and large French ceramic hanap in from late 17th or early XVIIIth century, decorated in blue shades with a very beautiful wedding coat of arms (to be identified) surmounted by a count's crown.
Rare Dijon (Burgundy) factory ceramic ?

This ceremonial piece directly takes a form of Louis XIV period silverware invented on the model of an inverted helmet. The valances around the ewer are in strong relief and are still a reference to the goldsmith's work. The scalloped and fluted handle at the grip is very wide and its button ends with a stylized and naive little face.
The ceramics factories of Rouen had made a specialty of these refined pieces, in particular emblazoned following prestigious orders.
The specificities of this piece allow however to rule out this origin. South Est of France ?

2 small sun-shaped faces above and below coat of arms are still a reference to the Louis XIV symbols .
