Beautiful Empire ormolu mantel bar, mercury gilt bronze, early 19th century circa 1000-1805.The sphinxes sitting on the bases are inspired Ancient Epypt.
Fontainebleau castle exposes a similar model (with variants) in its collection coming from General Moreau and made in 1804.
Beautiful collector in good condition, ideal to complete an Empire period decoration. Mercury gilt is original, a little attenuated. Complete and functional, except a palmett missing on the left.
