From The Condé Museum Model, Large Cane Armchair In Louis XV Style, Office Armchair flag

Object description :

"From The Condé Museum Model, Large Cane Armchair In Louis XV Style, Office Armchair"
Magnificent Louis XV style armchair in waxed beech, identical model and directly inspired by the original found at the Condé Museum in Chantilly and dating from 1740. This model is cited and photographed in Le Siege Français, Madeleine JARRY. Editions Office du Livre, 1973. Page 91 This sumptuous and large chair has a caned seat and back. Perimeter of the backrest decorated with palms, armrests and bases decorated with acanthus leaves. The front of the seat is very harmoniously eventful and has a ribbon decoration all around its perimeter. Another originality: the feet all end with inverted volutes. The cane of the seat being quite old and worn, a cake covered with a chocolate-colored imitation leather (identical on the armrests) was attached to the seat thus allowing regular use without risk of weakening the seat and allowing to keep its original cane. This very comfortable seat has a so-called "queen" backrest, its seat is wide and high, allowing it to be used as an office chair. Very beautiful craftsmanship from the early twentieth century.
