Object description :

"Scribanne Commode In Mahogany From Late Eighteenth Century."
Beautiful scribanne chest of drawers or secretary's chest of drawers opening with 4 drawers divided into two rows. It has a fluted decoration on the front, while the flap is flat. It rests on 4 four sheathed feet with double grooves on their four faces. The flap, bordered by a quarter-round molding, is made up of two cross members framing a solid Cuba mahogany panel. Inside there is a "theater" with twelve small drawers with mahogany fronts and a tabernacle door. Beautiful compass trim, iron hinges and pins, old but not original locks. This atypical piece of furniture by its presentation and its realization is of a very good quality. Mahogany is very dense and well preserved. This piece of furniture is similar to the productions of Saint Malo but can also be of foreign invoice. Beautiful original condition and beautiful slightly discolored patina. End of the 18th century.
