"19th Japan Art: Lacquered Duck Box, Inlaid, Signed"
Superb object: box in shape of duck, carved woody wood, the bird is encrusted with materials and colors, the interior was gilded .... the duck has a tortoiseshell beak, an engraved mother-of-pearl crest, metal-rimmed eyes, wings, engraved mother-of-pearl, bone or ivory feathers, green horn, pewter leaves, partially gilded lacquer. The bound of the box which presents the folded webbed legs, is signed in gold .... Beautiful object, for export to the West, late 19th century, (Meiji). Fairly good condition, with some wear and tear in the inlays. Take a good look at the photos ....
