Directoire Period Sheet Metal Cooler flag

Object description :

"Directoire Period Sheet Metal Cooler"
Large painted sheet glass cooler Decor with a frieze of bunches of grapes and vine leaves around the edge at mid-height of the basin on a green background; for the wine theme. Alterations in the paint (blisters) due to time as well as to the frieze which was originally gold, today rather golden-brown but entirely original. This basin is mounted on four pretty little bronze feet in the shape of lion claws. Formerly lacquered interior, today traces of general corrosion due to the presence of water in the past. The bottom which was detached was cold welded in our workshop. Internal diameter of the bottom: 25 cm. The upper rim elegantly cut with lambrequins necessary to maintain each foot of glass that we put to refresh. These utensils were often used later as a planter or flowerpot, they always retain a beautiful decorative effect and remain interesting collectibles on the theme of "painted sheets". Some fine examples in Yves Cazenave's book: Les Tôles peintes Objets de charme. Despite the current alterations in the paintwork and its restoration, I consider this object to be around 200 years old, still in fairly good condition. Feel free to contact me for more information. Note: this model is rare to find because it is a large size and round in shape, oval models being more common. Delivery: 10 € for metropolitan France.
