French School Circa 1830 : "man With A Glove"

French school circa 1830: "The man in the glove", oil on canvas re-lined 37.5 X 28 cm, mounted in a beautiful gilded frame 49 X 40 cm. This man, with a bulging forehead and a beard collar, with a carefully chosen outfit, took off his glove to be able to turn the pages of a work for printing on two columns, a collection of poems? A bible?
Painted in the privacy of his reading room, we can make out in the background a pedestal table on which rests a skull and a carafe.
Well, that's it, a page is turned: after 11 years of occupation, we are leaving our official apartment in Biarritz. But Nature and I have a horror of emptiness, I let you imagine everything there was inside and the house where we group the move may be large, I will have to separate little by little of a certain number of objects, furniture and paintings…
So, it is the case to say it, they are of an excellent origin !
