Object description :

"Consulate Period Commode, Lion's Paw Feet, Marble Top, Circa 1800"
Rare chest of drawers from the Consulate period in fruit wood (meurisier), manufactured around 1800. This piece of furniture, both sober and elegant, has a beautiful honey color, a charming work of chopsticks at the level of the uprights gives it a little aesthetic supplement. Front feet "lion's paws" in blackened wood. This chest of drawers opens with three drawers on the front, it is topped with a thick gray marble. The marble is original (it is quite irregular to the touch on the back edge) and was once damaged in its center, it was then completely and perfectly restored by a professional marble maker. The restoration carried out is hardly visible because it blends in with the veins of the stone. We can clearly see the meticulous work of a professional: three rods embedded in the stone have given it back its full strength. This marble can therefore be moved without the slightest fear. The handles of the drawers are decorated with lion snouts and embellished with pull rings. The whole is in good condition. Beautiful patina.
