Object description :

"Table In Golden Wood And Chinese Lacquer End Of XIX Eme"
Elegant all-sided table in gilded wood, the top of which is made of a gold and red Chinese lacquer panel.
this service table or writing table is very decorative, it rests on 4 slightly curved legs ending in finely worked lion's paws.
the belt consists of a central shell at the front and at the back placed on a scalloped crosspiece decorated with festoons and valances in the spirit of the Bérain and regency decorations.
the four feet stand out widely from the belt and are decorated with stylized acanthus leaves.
on the sides the crosspieces are scalloped and we find the same ornamental patterns.
the central shells stand out in very strong relief.
the top is very finely worked with a corbin beak enclosing a gilt wood frame decorated with floral motifs and enclosing a large Chinese lacquer panel with red and gold decoration.
this panel is probably a reuse of a screen panel, it is animated with characters, pavilions and islands with rocks and trees in a lake landscape.
the panel has a fairly visible vertical slit on the right side and another lighter 10 cm to the left of the first but less important.
these two slots on the lacquer panel are stabilized.
a few minor repetitions of the gilding were carried out.
probably English work from the end of the 19th early 20th century.
ideal height to make a small office or a sideboard.
a table in gilded wood all sides very beautifully made and very decorative.
