Nicolaes Berchem Watercolor 17th

Very beautiful 17th century watercolor.

This brightly coloured watercolor is sold with its superb carved wooden frame.
An annotation on the back attributes this delightful rural scene to Nicolaes Berchem.

Nicolaes Pietersz.Berchem or Berghem or Pieter Claesz, born in Haarlem on 1 October 1620 and died in Amsterdam on 18 February 1683, is a Dutch painter, draughtsman and engraver of the golden age.
Although he was the son of the still-life painter Pieter Claesz, he mainly created landscapes.A prolific artist, one of the leading Dutch Italianists, he enjoyed considerable success during his lifetime, and his work influenced landscape painting until the 18th century, not only in his country of origin but also in France and England.He is considered one of the precursors of rococo painting.He has also excelled in the representation of animals, and cattle in particular.He was a member of the well-known guild of Saint Luke.

There is no signature to my knowledge, Like all the paintings I propose, this watercolor is in its juice, I did not wish to open it. I prefer to leave it to the buyer to choose whether to keep it unsealed or not.
However, I did some research by comparing the models of paintings and drawings known to the painter. (see photos).
The horse is very similar in attitude and features, the same goes for the dog typical of Nicolaes Berchem’s paintings.
The women represented here are also quite in the style of the painter.
