"Provencal Primitive Mirror , Hackberry Carved, Nineteenth,"
Mirror mercury silvered, almost square in shape, framed in solid wood of Mulberry or Hackberry, the shade trees of our region, mounted as we did in the 17th century, but more probably 150 years ago and with screws. The primitive art of its framing is quite eclectic: Louis XIV spirit border, fluting (with old gold background) and Louis XVI garlands, popular foliage spandrels, two animal masks at the top and bottom.
A solid object, the still water of the mirror looks like a pond. Comes from a 16thcentury old house in Arles ... Take a good look at the photos .... Dimensions: 39cm x 36cm x 4.5cm. Weight, 2.1kg
