Copper Bath Heater, Eighteenth flag

Object description :

"Copper Bath Heater, Eighteenth"
Bath heater, large full red copper container. Period XVIIIth The body of the heater is hermetically closed by a fitting cover. It has two angled side chimneys that start from the lower body and are also closed with a cover. The side chimneys serve to diffuse heat and are also intended to bring fresh air to the base of the brazier, favoring the combustion of embers. This implies that during its use, all the covers were removed. Repositioning the lids was a simple matter of turning off the fireplace. Two horizontal rods which start from the chimneys connect them to the central body and serve as gripping elements. The bath heater, given its name, has no mystery to anyone! It is used to heat a bath, before the boiler exists. To use it, it is necessary to fill it with glowing embers and immerse it in water. Please note: the water heater heats the water or keeps it hot, but it cannot heat it on its own. The bath heater was used in the 18th and 19th centuries, with a little spillover from the beginnings of the 20th century, until the electricity fairy appeared in all households in France, in the 1920s.
