Bird, chandelier ornament, in patinated bronze ... These small birds formed the top part of some Flemish chandeliers.
Head with large eyes, ainures on the back intended to receive the wings; through hole for the hanger rod.
Flanders, 15th century
Two comparable birds were in the Irwin Untermyer collection and another copy is kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, which has missing legs (inv. M.6-1930).
