Charles Jacque. Sheep And His Lamb. Miniature Painted On A Bone Token. flag

Object description :

"Charles Jacque. Sheep And His Lamb. Miniature Painted On A Bone Token."
Charles Jacque is one of the great masters of the Barbizon School. Our painting represents one of the artist's favorite subjects, namely the sheep which were very numerous at the time in the region of Fontainebleau. He painted on a bone token this charming scene of maternal attention with disconcerting precision. He monogrammed his composition CJ on the right. The artists of the Barbizon School regularly exchanged mini-compositions or miniatures, thus expressing pictorial feats of strength. Dimensions with frame: 7.5x 7.5 cm Composition: 3.3 cm
