Period early 17th century.
it represents Mary with the baby Jesus surrounded by angels with garlands of flowers.
The painting has retained very bright colors, typical of Mannerism.
A smaller version of this painting (oil on copper) is in the RISD Museum, Providence, USA and is attributed to Hans Rottenhammer I, a German artist. Our version is very probably another version, produced by the workshop, or by a follower of the painter.
The curiosity of the painting makes us glimpse the subdivision of the works in the workshops of the painters of the time: up to more than one painter who collaborated in the creation of the painting. One of them painted the figures, another created the flowers, probably the architectural wings in perspective belong to another artist.
The painting has had some restorations on the wooden support in the past (see the tiles on the back of the painting in the photo).
In good condition, small problem at the top will be restored in a short time before sale.
