Object description :

"Portrait Painting Woman 19th Pastel Signed Laugier"
Charming portrait, pastel, French school of the late nineteenth.

Portrait of a young woman of the bourgeoisie in the time of Napoleon III.

This charming portrait is signed A . Laugier and dated 1851.

Auguste Laugier listed in the "Benezit" and in "The little masters of painting", is a painter of genre and portraits of the 19th.
He was born in Toulon on April 2, 1814. Student of Paul Delaroche, he presents portraits sometimes in oil sometimes in pastel. He took part in the Salon of Paris from 1844 to 1880. Six of his portraits are present in the museum of his native city.

You can notice the great finesse of the execution of this portrait in bright colors.

Like all the paintings I propose, this pastel is "in its juice".The paper has slightly taken moisture to the base.
There are also some slight lack of pastel to report at the woman’s forehead (see photos), nothing serious.

This portrait is sold in its beautiful original frame, in Pitchpin.
There is no glass.
