"XVIIth Nuremberg Equestrian Portraits Ferdinand II & Habsburg Dynasty Electors Tin Dish "
NUREMBERG, early XVIIth century, small pewter plate or PATENE with rich decoration representing in the center the Ferdinand II equestrian portrait and on the wing those Habsburgs Emperors in 11 captioned medallions alternating with floral compositions and human masks,

Circa 1630/1640?

This dish uses the pewter model created around 1630 and executed by Georges Schmauss, medalist and founder in Nuremberg.

Similar plates kept at the Brussels Art and History Royal Museum, Inv. V.2574 or at the Victoria and Albert Museum

Condition: Apocryphal property mark (?) with initials PVC and small slit in the marli (see photos)

Approx 20cm diameter
