"Bronze Sculpture Signed Moreau Mathurin"
Bronze sculpture with brown patina entitled "Moissonneuse", resting on a veined red marble plinth, signed on the terrace Mathurin Moreau and the stamp of founder E. Colin Paris. He was born in Dijon in 1822, died in Paris in 1912. Son and pupil of Jean-Batiste Moreau, he entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris at 19. He won the second Prix de Rome in 1842 and appeared at the Salon in 1848; he will obtain numerous distinctions there. His work includes monuments, statues of personalities ... He works for the Opera, the French theater, the Louvre etc. But his work also includes statues on pleasant and decorative themes which then experience considerable success. XIXth century.
