"Georges Guinegault (1893 - 1982) - The Beach Ball."
Oil on panel signed and titled on the back.Dimensions: 46 x 37 cm, with frame: 66 x 55 cm.
Georges Guinegault represents a most charming scene. On a beach, a child receives the treasure of any good afternoon at the beach: the game ball. The mother hands the object of desire to her child and perhaps gives him some recommendations for good behavior. so that the child respects the moment of relaxation of the neighbors of the beach and protects them from splashing sand. The protagonists' garments in shimmering colors evoke the softness of the 1920s. Although the bell hats protect the eyes and rosy cheeks of bathers, there are still expressions of summer happiness.
Georges Guinegault studied in the studio of Eugène Delâtre, painter and professor at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. In June 1913, he won the prize in the school's general decorative composition competition. He painted Paris, the shores of the Channel and the Atlantic - in particular La Hague and Brittany (Quiberon, Saint-Malo, etc.). The painter takes his colors and his desire to paint on a journey to the Riviera (Saint-Tropez), the Pyrenees, Beauce and the Basque countries. In addition, he tries to represent orientalist scenes during his stay in Morocco (Marrakech, Meknes…). Besides his landscapes, he also depicts portraits and academies (anatomies and nudes, in large numbers).
