"Oil On Canvas Painting View Of A Lively Medieval Town Market Stall And 19th Century Cathedral"
Charming old painting from the 19th century, oil on canvas depicting a probably imaginary city with a covered bridge and medieval houses in the foreground, on the right a lively view of the market and a cathedral in the background inspired by Rouen Cathedral. In the style of market scenes executed by Léonard Saurfelt (1840-1890) or the Flemish painters. A beautiful treatment of the light of the sky and a beautiful finesse of execution of the subject as a whole. Signed "Spalker" lower left. It is highlighted by a gilded wood frame of the twentieth century a little old and of good quality in perfect harmony of style with the painting. Dimensions: 46 cm x 35 cm (frame) 68 cm x 56 cm (with the frame) On its original canvas. A piece on the back which is a simple reinforcement because no damage appears on the painting. Good condition. Very slight marks of seniority. Many other objects to discover in my stand at the Trade Shows in which I participate.
