Watercolor Oberwesel Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham 1862 Oberwesel / Middle Rhine - Ochsenturm 14th century defense tower dated 1862 Original gilded frame behind original glass frame width 104cm height 73cm watercolor width 68cm height 41cm Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham (1823 in Dublin - June 30, 1875 at Percy Lodge, Camden Hill, Kensington), Irish watercolourist and marine lithographer, was the son of watercolourist Thomas Leeson Scrase Rowbotham (1783-1853). He was trained by his father and first did serious work in 1847 on a drawing trip to Wales. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street Gallery and other prestigious galleries of the time, and he was elected an associate of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colors in 1848 and a full member in 1851.
