"Empire Cylinder Desk"
Exceptional and very important cylinder desk in solid mahogany and "flamé" veneer, early 19th century. It opens in front, first for the upper part: by a sculpted and openwork gallery of floral motifs and volutes, resting on a row of three drawers. Second for the central part: by a large cylindrical flap with handles revealing four drawers and numerous compartments concealing a sliding tray lined with leather. Thirdly for the lower part: by a central drawer framed by two boxes, the one on the right forming a safety box, and the one on the left with two drawers. Both sides each have a leather-lined zipper. The entire frame and the sockets are in solid mahogany veneered with a magnificent flamed Cuban mahogany. The whole piece of furniture weighs around 120 kg.
