"Polo Scene. Watercolor And Ink. Edgar Wiethase"
Polo scene, watercolor and ink on paper mounted under mat and wooden frame, Edgard Wiethase (1881-1965), signed in the lower left corner. Frame dimensions: H. 51 x L. 50.5 x D. 1.5 cm; subject: 28.5 x 28.5 cm. Edgard Wiethase (Antwerp 1881 - Uccle 1965). Painter and realistic watercolorist of landscapes, country scenes, interiors, portraits and still lifes, but especially horses. Student at the Academy of Antwerp (C. Boom, C. Mertens and P. Verhaert) and at the NHISKA (F. Van Leemputten). Member of the Als Ik Kan circle from 1903. Ended up settling in the outskirts of Brussels. Preferably work on a medium that in itself suggests movement. His paintings show some stylistic kinship with the fresco technique. His watercolors are of a stronger color than the previous ones. Works in the Antwerp Museum.
