"Box China General Lérivint"
Charming little box of china made in china imperial workshops during the reign of Qianlong, to the French East India Company, and (re) mounted in gilt bronze in France in the nineteenth century. The box and cover have, on white background. On the cover, a bottom lattice and cartridges reserves decorated with a crab and a butterfly. The body of the box is decorated with flowers (camellia) we find at the top of the lid, and a phoenix. This box belonged to General Gabriel Lérivint Empire. Gabriel Jacques Lérivint (1741-1823) was a General of the French Revolution and the First Empire. He is the father of cavalry colonel Lérivint Joseph Charles (1776-1812). Young Gabriel Lérivint agrees very early in the King's army. It makes a fine military career before the revolutionary war, gradually climbing the military ladder. First junior officer, he became lieutenant-colonel and colonel in the cavalry. January 10, 1794 Gabriel-Jacques Lérivint was promoted brigadier general by the people's representatives from the Armed Forces of the Rhine and Moselle. Attached to the division of the young general Championnet in the Army of the Moselle, Lérivint joined his division June 10, 1794. Serves Liège, August 10, 1794, then Fleurus 26 June of the same year. July 2, 1794 Lérivint is assigned to the Army of the Sambre and Meuse, where he replaces General Dubois. He took command of the cavalry March 24, 1795. After an initial reform February to September 1797, Lérivint was appointed commander of the department of Sambre and Meuse, and the department of the Dyle and finally the department of Deux-Nèthes, from 1799 to 1802. He was appointed Knight of the Empire by Napoleon in 1810. He was made a Knight of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Louis. Field Marshal retired to Saumur. So he did all the campaigns since the reign of Louis XV to the Empire. Gabriel Lérivint will die June 14, 1823 in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, at the advanced age of 82 years. The Empire Generals have fought alongside the Emperor Napoleon during his many campaigns. Their loyalty, fidelity and abilities have their most allowed to climb the military ladder one hand, but also social becoming senior French nobility and rich.
