Object description :

"Canopy Bed Said"
Rare four-poster bed called "in the pulpit to preach". It dates from the Directoire period, late 18th century early 19th century. This bed is in gray and gold lacquered wood. Typical of its time, the sides are inverted columnar, finely carved with palmettes and diamonds. The bed boards are gray lacquered and rechamped with gilding on the reliefs. The rear uprights are square columns. Its bed canopy is canted. This type of bed is also called "Italian bed". The pulpit bed to preach is distinguished by its sky held by the two rear uprights. The Polish bed will have its canopy maintained by four uprights, and the canopy bed will have its top supported by four upright uprights, covering the entire surface of the bed. This very decorative piece is in good condition, the assembly of the canopy was reinforced in the past by a metal frame, allowing great strength when it is suspended (see photo of the top of the canopy). This bed does not have any bedding, but we can on request, depending on what will decide its future purchaser, charge us with requests for quotes for its realization. There are a multitude of small hooks on the bed canopy allowing the positioning of fabrics falling on the sides. Dimensions: 2m70 high, 2m05 wide and 127cm deep. Internal dimensions for box spring and mattress: 1m20 x 1m86.
