"Mahogany Serving Trolley By J. Kendall & Co Signed Berwick In Leeds, Circa 1830"
Beautiful large sideboard with system trays, solid mahogany and veneer, original label from J. Kendall in Leeds, signed by Ebenist Berwick, William IV period (circa 1830), J. Kendell stands for John Kendall who was established between 1783 to 1840 and is listed in the G.Beard & C.Gilbert, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, as an important Leeds maker. From the 1830’s J Kendall & Co adopted the policy of labelling furniture.
John Kendell & Co were employed by the Earl of Harewood at Harewood House, Leeds between 1818-22, and at Farnley Hall, Otley between 1833-34 and adopted a policy of labelling their furniture from the 1830's
