Pair of Portraits - Workshop of Nicolas de Largillière, circa 1730 (Monsieur) Atelier Nicolas de Largillière (Paris 1656-1746) This pair of paintings represents in a truly splendid manner two spouses belonging to an important noble family, as evidenced by the coat of arms that appear on the canvases. They are certainly works with all the characteristics of the most beautiful French portrait of the 18th century and notably present all the stylistic connotations of the production of the famous Parisian master Nicolas de Largillière and his workshop. The use of blue and pink colors in the draperies and the monochrome background make the faces of the protagonists stand out which appear smooth and bright. It is in the typical manners of his representations which immortalized hundreds of high-ranking personalities in eighteenth-century Paris. Our two portraits are an excellent example of the works of his famous workshop. The canvases, with elegant antique gilded frames, are in good condition and have already been cleaned.
