Great Saber Of Honor Middle East flag

Object description :

"Great Saber Of Honor Middle East"
Great saber of honor from the Middle East, possibly Saudi Arabia
This massive and heavy saber is obviously not intended for combat., It is a weapon of honor, intended for a gift of prestige, as it was intended for custom of offering to foreign ambassadors or princes.
Entirely golden, it gives off an impression of richness in the oriental taste.
Blade: It deliberately presents a dark aspect, to contrast with the gold of the frame. It is flat and ends with a tip in "carp tongue". Although it is a weapon of honor, the blade is very sharp.
A votive inscription runs across the entire blade. Near the hilt, the armorer's seal in a cartridge. The other side is smooth. L = 78.5
Scabbard: Its entire golden surface is decorated with filigree, on which rest 7 open flowers, a symbolic reminder of the 7 swords that the Prophet had, but also a reminder of the readings of the Koran, which are in the number seven. The allegorical meanings of the Holy text are also seven in number, as well as the Heavens and the seven planets. ("The Koran is descended in seven letters" says the tradition)
In the flowers are blue stones (turqoises?) The blue (azraq) evoking the unfathomable depth of the universe (Ibn'Arabi).
Two suspension rings,chiseled brass
Hilt : it is also completely covered with golden filigree. A chiseled chain connects the end of the handle to the guard.
