Jean Rigaud (1912-1999) View of the Salute in Venice (in the morning) Oil on canvas signed lower left with marine ink Located and dated on the back (19) 78 Size: 46 x 33.5 cm Size with frame: 63 x 50 cm Jean RIGAUD was a student of his father Pierre Gaston Rigaud as well as of André Devambez at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1937 in Paris and Prix du Maroc in 1953. He was appointed official painter of the navy in 1956 which explains the ink next to his signature. It is present in many French museums.
