"Antoine Morlon - The Surroundings Of Fécamp"
Antoine MORLON Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret), 1834 - Paris, 1913 Oil on panel 32 x 40.5 cm (43 x 52 cm with the frame) Label on the back Beautiful 19th century frame in gilded wood decorated with palmettes Antoine Morlon is a painter who was successful at the Salon of French artists by exhibiting between 1868 and 1904 marines located in Normandy in the region of Fécamp and Yport. He is one of those artists who have come to Yport, for the most part invited and welcomed by the master Jean-Paul Laurens such as Antoine Guillemet, Théodore Weber, Louis Mouchot, Paul Jamin, Alexandre Bida, Iwill, Paul Emile Sautais and André Devambez. The invoice of our painting is close to the painters who were influenced by academic painting, with a precise drawing, a fine light and bright and frank colors while respecting reality. This view of a beach near Fécamp shows a beautiful, well-described boat, a seated man treading his net and other boats in the distance. Many interesting details dot the composition, the boat itself of which we can see the number "F912" and its fittings, its ropes and nets, the winch on the beach as well as the ramp.
