Vietnam around 1900, very pretty statue in carved wood depicting a standing figure most certainly holding a stringed musical instrument. The eyes are made of glass as well as those of the chimera's head represented in relief at the level of the belt. The subject's clothing, headdress and posture show that he is a man of high rank. The work, of very good quality, highlights the smallest details and breathes life and energy into the subject. Good condition except for cracks in the wood due to age and a small lack at the top of the composition as one can suppose from the presence of an orifice, without affecting the beautiful aesthetics of this piece.
