Eugéne CADEL (Paris 1862-1941) Old residence in ARTAGNAN On its original canvas, with its period gilded wood frame Signed lower left E CADEL entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1882 and took courses in Alexandre Cabannel, Luc-Olivier Merson and Puvis de Chavannes He exhibited at least from 1887, at the salon of French artists (1911-1940), at the salon of humorists, and at the National Society of Fine Arts, of which he became member of the jury then secretary in 1920 His style of painting belongs to the pointillism vein, post-impressionism expressed through his landscapes; of which our painting is a fine example Label on the back indicating the subject Canvas in its original condition
