The useless Lesson
etching after a painting painted in 1773 by Leprince, painter of his Majesty the King.
Engraved in 1781 by Helman engraver of Mgr Duke of Chartres.
Painted in 1773 by Jean Baptiste Leprince.
In Paris, at the author's, rue St Honoré in front of the Hotel de Noailles, and in Ponce shop.
Dedicated to the Duchess of Gramont, from the Cabinet of the Duke of Praslin,
Isidor Stanislas Helman ( 1743 Lille- 1809 Paris), pupil of Jean Philippe Le Bas, was a renowned engraver at the time, and his works were sought after by numerous amateurs, especially "gracious" subjects such as this one.
