Beautiful wrought iron object engraved on both sides, split in two to form a flat and long clip, closing with a sliding ring on one or two edges,to ensure maintenance of a light garment, shawl or veil,and attach it. A chain undoubtedly connected it to a belt, as for a dress up ...
It is a mystery object, my interpretation is only the search for a use, there may be others.
Early antique work, eighteenth century, perhaps Persian or Ottoman?
