Intaglio decoration After studying at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice, Albert Thiry (1923-2009) continued his training as a trainee in various pottery workshops, notably at Charles Voltz (1923-1997). In Vallauris in 1956, he joined Claire and René Batigne as a decorator, who ran the Green Carpet workshop, and worked alongside Marcel Vertès (1895-1961) and Anton Prinner (1902-1983) who introduced him to sculpture. . He married Pyot Gavaudan (1933-), who worked for Marcel Giraud (1897-1985) as a decorator and model maker. Together, in 1961, they created their own workshop.
