Object description :

"Jacobus Storck (amsterdam, 1641-1687) Signed-marine And Venetian Capriccio."
Jacobus Storck (Amsterdam, 1641-1687) signed-Marine and Venetian capriccio.

Canvas 83 cm by 60 cm
Superb Old frame 110 cm by 86 cm

The capriccio is an imaginary representation in which are grouped often very real monuments. (For example the Rialto bridge which is found in the center of the canvas). Our painting is a superb example with, to decorate it, a very lively port with many characters and its maritime part. Jacobus Storck is also a marine painter.

Jacobus Storck (Amsterdam, 1641-1687)

Jacobus is the youngest son of a family of painters. He is the younger brother of Abraham Storck, their father is the painter Sturckensburch. Little is known about his life, however his works are well known to collectors across the planet. His paintings reach new heights with records of more than 150,000 €, a large number ranging between 30,000 and 40,000 €, our painting corresponds to this series of paintings around the theme of architectural caprice, often Venetian, around a lively port ( to cite just one example: Sotheby's in 2007, “Venice, a Capriccio View from the Bacino with the Piazzetta” same dimensions: 83 cm by 60 cm, auctioned with costs at € 35,000)
