Nice painting with a lively and colorful touch by the Toulon artist Paul Levéré (1875-1949). The work represents L'Estaque, a district of Marseille famous for having hosted the greatest painters, is well framed in a Louis XIV style frame, measuring 55 cm by 68 cm and 33 cm by 46 without the frame. In perfect condition, it is signed lower right. He painted landscapes of Provence and the Mediterranean Riviera. He was appointed member of the Toulon fine arts commission, then professor at the city's fine arts school. he collaborated with the artistic review La Provence illustrated. Working in a post-impressionist style, he was influenced by Pierre Bonnard. The mural he painted in the hall of the Sud France train station in Toulon was saved during the demolition of the building, after the bombings of 1944, in order to be kept at the Musée du Vieux Toulon.
