"Large Antique Japanese Nabeshima Porcelain Bowl Mount Fuji"

A fine and large antique Japanese Nabeshima porcelain footed bowl, decorated in relief with Mount Fuji in the clouds with a pair of red crested cranes (see below*) in flight.

*Two cranes flying together is the ultimate symbol of longevity. Since cranes fly in the clear blue sky above the dusty earth, they are also considered symbols of cleanliness and purity.

Date - circa 1900.
