"Watercolor Edmond Fontan (1854-1929) Pyrenees, Signed"
By this beautiful watercolor of relatively large format, Edmond Fontan (1854-1929) represents the throats of "Galamus". The work is signed "E. Fontan" and located "Galamus". The refinement in the detail and the mastery of the shades of rocks which take the shade and the light, demonstrates a very beautiful technique of watercolor. Coming from a modest background - his father was a stonemason - Edmond Fontan (Bordeaux, May 9, 1854 - February 18, 1929) is a draftsman for the Compagnie des chemin de fer du Midi. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1882. Member of local artistic societies, such as the Société des Amis des Arts or l'Atelier, he received numerous medals. Dimensions without frame: 43 cm x 58 cm.
