Coming from a modest background - his father was a stonemason - Edmond Fontan (Bordeaux, May 9, 1854 - February 18, 1929) is a draftsman for the Compagnie des chemin de fer du Midi. He practices watercolor as a leisure activity, is interested in the old city of Bordeaux and travels the region. Perfectly mastering the technique, he strives to restore materials and atmospheres. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1882. Member of local artistic societies, such as the Société des Amis des Arts or l'Atelier, he received numerous medals. Dimensions without frame: 43 cm x 58 cm.
