Object description :

"Polo Player. Terracotta. Mingqi Statue, Asia, Seniority Test Provided. China Tang Statue"
Polychrome terracotta, slip, pigmentation possibly resumed.
The horse with the nervous croup jumps, nostrils open, ears pointed. The rider has a chignon offset to the left, holds her mallet raised high in her right hand, the harness is well marked and the saddle rests on a decorated fabric.
The polychromy is homogeneous. Dating tested by thermoluminescence on February 25, 2020 (document provided.)

The import of the polo ("Jigiu") tradition into China dates back to the beginning of the Tang dynasty (618-907 AD), ie the beginning of the 7th century , a period when women assert themselves in politics but also in equestrian sports. Dressed in the western style, she looks decided, wears black boots. By her natural agility, she excels in this area which allows her to combine grace and movement.
