Magnificent small tripod pedestal table, 75cm high, in gilt and silvered bronze, with a glass top 52cm in diameter with loops at the end of the uprights, a spacer and legs ending in doe paws.

An authentic jewel, typical of the neoclassical French chic of the Maison Charles.

Maison Charles is one of the oldest French family lighting companies still in business. Maison Charles (sometimes called Maison Charles et fils) was founded by Ernest Charles who bought Ullmann, a company specialising in bronze. In its early days, the company produced antique bronze and gilded lighting fixtures inspired by nature and became famous for its ability to work the material, thus building a reputation among professionals in the field of bronze art objects.

At the end of the 1950s, Ernest Charles' grandchildren, Jean and Jacques, joined Maison Charles. Jean had studied interior design and woodcarving at the École Boulle in Paris while Jacques had obtained a professional qualification in applied arts and interior design.

Today, the company specialises in custom-made pieces for private clients, art galleries, interior designers and retailers. The company only produces small series of Maison Charles' best-sellers.
