Elegant 18th century portico clock, Louis XVI period, signed "Philipe Chapo Paris". watchmaker listed in the Tardy, dictionary of French watchmakers. Note little his signed with the first name. Made up of white and black marble and a fine ornamentation in gilded mercury bronze, finely chiseled.

Four column architecture. two flattened and decorated with flower vases and friezes of plants. the front one of round shape adorned with bases and capitals. Supporting the entablature richly adorned with flower vases and a magnificent eagle atop a small column.

Large domed white enamel dial accompanied by fine golden hands. the whole protected by a curved glass.

The space between the columns is occupied by a drapery of plants and an oscillating sun pendulum. Base decorated with laurel friezes and a row of pearls.

Original mechanism without modification, suspension with silk thread, striking of the hours and half-hours on an old bell.

An 18th century clock, Louis XVI, perfectly representative of its time with great finesse and elegance. Perfect authenticity and a remarkable state of conservation.
