"Solar Dial In Slate Dating From The XVIIIth Century Brittany"
Slate sundial from Brittany dating from the 18th century. This slate-cut sundial features two dials, an inner dial with Arabic numerals and an outer dial with Roman numerals. It is decorated on its four corners with a star on each side for the upper part and a rosette on each side for the lower part. One of the sides is damaged, the engraving is no longer visible. We find different inscriptions in Latin on the dial "Horoe Solis" which means The hours of the Sun, "Dies" which means Day and "Lunares" which means Lunar. The gnomon which allows you to read the time on the dial is broken. The dial is sold as is. Length: 38.5 cm Width: 38 cm Depth: 1.5 cm Weight: 3.1 kg
